Guardian Program Receives GrantBeing proactive about invasive weeds is paying off
for Johnson Lake and members of the Johnson Lake Property Owners Association.
Roy Hansen reports the Association will receive grant money for our Guardian
Program boat ramp monitoring station. The only condition is that members
volunteer time and effort to protect the lake.
Hi all;
I just received great news from Eric Lindberg that the
grant for the Lake Monitoring has been approved. My understanding is the
grant is for $1600.00 for two years of monitoring provided we can show 70 hours
of volunteer service. This should be no problem as we all
can do surveys for weeds as we take a cruise around the lake. Eric said
this should cover about half of the annual cost for the monitor! If
you have not heard the footing for the monitor is in at the landing and we will
start it up May 1. The High speed internet hookup will be at our
house. We were unable to find another location that already had high speed
internet so I will have it installed here prior to May.
