Johnson Lake Neighbors, Friends Remember Bob Pengra

Family and friends celebrated the life and mourned the passing of Clayton (Bob) Pengra this month. Pengra will be remembered for his gifts of kindness, love and devotion to family and friends, and for sharing his love of nature. Pengra's family was featured in the "Getting to Know You" section of the May 2001 JLPOA newsletter. The Pengras bought their land on Johnson Lake in 1982. Building their cabin in the following year was a family affair.

The 79 year old Pengra was a WWII Veteran, Machinists Mate Second Class, serving on the USS Oceanographer and USS Antietam. He went on to work 39 years at Nobles Industries and retired in 1989. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, on December 8, 2003. He will be sadly missed by wife Jean, daughters Kathy Gangl, Nancy, Elaine McCouley and Carol, his many grandchildren, as well as many other relatives.

Pengra enjoyed photography. Family members shared his shot of an eagle soaring over Johnson Lake last summer, on the cover of the the Memorial Service literature. A private interment was held at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Ceremony in Spooner. Our thoughts are with the Pengras.
