Red Hatters Win Prize in Siren Parade

Members of the Red Hat Society sang, waved and smiled their way to an award-winning performance in Siren's July 4th parade.

The Red Hat Society is a group of women who enjoy having fun, according to the lyrics of their song and their national website. Local chapter members enjoy golf outings and dining, among other social activities. Several members live on Johnson Lake and nearby communities. Their float won the "best original float" category.

"The Red Hat Society began as a result of a few women deciding to greet middle age with verve, humor and elan. We believe silliness is the comedy relief of life, and since we are all in it together, we might as well join red-gloved hands and go for the gusto together. Underneath the frivolity, we share a bond of affection, forged by common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm for wherever life takes us next."
