BREAKING NEWS: Rescue Effort Aimed at Saving Iced-In Loon Babies

Two baby loons virtually frozen into Johnson Lake received some help from human hands this weekend. The loons were spotted in a very small spot of open water on the south side of the lake. We're told that the birds dove when rescuers tried to capture them, so firefighters opened a long "runway" in the ice. The hope is that the loons could take off and fly to larger, still-open waters. Slightly warmer weather in the forecast could also help solve this life-threatening challenge. Watch this space for more information as it becomes available.

More to come!
