Snow Scarce But Ice Nice for Holiday Week at Johnson Lake

Snowmobilers hoping to take new sleds on the trails during Christmas week were disappointed this year. However, the cold snap that lasted into Christmas weekend created lots of nice ice for skating and fishing.

Several JLPOA members are celebrating the holidays at the lake. We know of at least three good sized ice rinks on the lake. Snow cover seems deepest along the north shore of the lake, but even there it's three inches deep at most. People are setting up ice fishing shacks on several area lakes. We noticed pickups on some area lakes, but please check the thickness before venturing out.

Three skaters share a racing game on their new ice rink. Tyler Nelson leads the pack, but not for long.

What's more fun than a competitive game of fetch on the lake, when you're a yellow lab! Gunnar has the ball with Ruby and Raffles giving chase.
