Road Construction Forces Detour for Johnson Lake Visitors


The reconstruction of Wisconsin Highway 35 is forcing detours for lots of travelers visiting Johnson Lake and surrounding area. The highway is closed at County Road A, just north of Webster. A common detour is County A to Stone Road or Devil's Lake Road, around Devil's Lake.

Though closed, the highway was passable during the Memorial Day weekend. Much of the road is gravel, but a portion near the Oakland store is still asphalt. A bald eagle pair nesting near the construction site has forced crews to wait until the eggs hatch and young eaglets are ready to fly.
