Baby Loons Absent, Birders Search for Other Friends


The loons have apparently failed to hatch any young this season, much to the disappointment of loon watchers across the lake. However, one JLPOA member did snap a photo of another photogenic feathered friend

Weg sent in this shot of a male goldfinch at his Johnson Lake feeder. He says the feeder protrudes from a brass support reaching out and beyond his deck railing. Beyond the range of the image below, you can see a "Wegs" repair job on the feeder itself since earlier a bear or possibly raccoon pushed it over -- consumed the seed and in the process mangled the plastic and support bars.
