About the Photo of the Month - January 2006

Blame global warming or mother nature, but the winter of 2005 and 2006 is milder than most. The week before Christmas started out with cold and snow, but ended with melting slush and signs of premature spring.

A walk in the woods revealed some small bits of life emerging from the blanket of snow. Moss covering an old tree stump seemed to be taking advantage of the late December thaw. Small red flower buds appeared ready to open, nourished by the melting snow and a few hints of sunlight.
