About the Photo of the Month - April 2005

A full moon rises over Johnson Lake, just a couple of weeks after the ice goes out. It's our Photo of the Month for April.

The trees aren't quite starting to bud, but some of the first leaves of the season are starting to appear on the wild raspberries and other plants in the woods. Seeing the ice gone from the lake is an emotional boost after a long, gray winter. Several docks are in the water. A few kids have already braved dipping their toes - or even more - into the chilly water. Soon, the sun will work its magic and turn our lake into an inviting swimming hole in the north woods. As of mid-April, the lake water is extremely clear. The fish are probably heading for the warmest parts of the lake, the shallow southern shoreline.

As always, we invite you to submit a photo of the month . We'd love to see your favorite shots.
